New Segment: The FCC Spotlight Song of the Week! |
|
We're adding a new segment to the show: The FCC Spotlight Song of the Week! Each week, we'll feature a song that we've edited to precise FCC specifications (although somehow we think it makes the song sound dirty even when it wasn't to begin with). And if you have suggestions for songs you'd like to hear done "FCC-Style," click "Contact Us" and let us know! :) -Jeff, Marty, Trey & Buddy |

Ronny James Dio, 1942-2010 |
|
Ronnie James Dio, the metal god who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and later piloted the bands Heaven & Hell and Dio, has died aged 67, his wife and manager say.
Dio announced last (northern) autumn he was suffering from stomach cancer. He was being treated at a Houston hospital, according to his website.
\"My heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am," said a statement by Wendy Dio posted on Sunday on the site and confirmed by publicist Maureen O\'Connor.
Wendy Dio said friends and family were able to say their goodbyes to her husband, and asked for privacy. She concluded: "Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

iPhone App to listen to the School of Rock? |
|
Several people have asked if we know of a way to listen to the show through either the iPhone or iTouch. There is!
There's a free streaming radio app called "FStream" that you can install and you'll be able to listen in through your mobile device.
To set up the School of Rock on the iPhone/iTouch, follow these steps:
1) Under "Favorites" open the "Edit" screen, then tap "Add new webradio."
2) Name it whatever you want. Under URL, put in http://theschoolofrock.org:8000.
3) Under Encoding select WindowsLatin1.
4) Click "Save"
If for some reason the w00t re-broadcast feed isn't working, there is currently no way to stream the WMHW signal directly, because they're using a version of QuickTime that the iPhone doesn't understand. -SoR |

Celebrating the career of Dr. Jerry Henderson |
|
Our good friend, and long-time WMHW operations manager, Dr. Jerry Henderson, is retiring after 3+ decades of work at Central Michigan University in the School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts.
We'd just like to say "Thanks, Jerry!" for all the help and support you've given us over the years. You were always a friend, a fan, and staunch advocate of letting three old guys go on the air and play music that most of the campus has never heard before (because they're too young, of course), and we'll keep right on rockin' into the night!
You can check out the Moing Sun's excellent story on Jerry at:

Salute Jerry! |
